Paying for three channels with no idea which one works? Get the diagnosis before the next dollar, and a plan ordered by payback.
What our clients say
Trusted by small businesses
What does marketing consulting give a small business owner?
A diagnosis and a sequenced plan. We audit your tracking, website, search position, ad accounts, reviews and positioning, then hand you a written roadmap that orders the fixes by how fast each one pays back. You can run it with your own people, give it to another vendor, or have our team execute it.
Three invoices in, still no scoreboard
Here’s the owner who calls us: an ads vendor bills monthly, an SEO retainer renews quietly, a part-timer posts to Instagram, and nobody in the building can say what a booked job costs from any of them. The marketing might even be working. The painful part is that you genuinely can’t tell, so every renewal is a coin flip and every budget conversation is a guess.
That’s why the first move is never more spend. It’s measurement: call tracking, form attribution, and a report that ties each lead back to the channel that produced it. Pouring money into an unmeasured funnel doesn’t buy growth, it buys bigger confusion. Once the scoreboard exists, the rest of the decisions get strangely easy, because the channels start arguing for themselves in revenue.
There is a second version of this owner worth naming: the one about to spend for the first time. Maybe you sold the business on referrals for a decade and the referral well is slowing. Starting from zero with a clear sequence is far cheaper than starting with whatever salesperson reaches you first, and an hour of diagnosis up front routinely saves a year of paying for the wrong thing.
What the audit opens up
The audit is a teardown of how your marketing actually behaves, not a slide deck of opinions. We go through:
- Tracking: whether calls, forms and bookings tie back to a source, and what’s invisible today
- Your website’s conversion path: speed, message clarity, proof and how much friction sits between a visitor and a call
- Search reality: where you rank, who’s beating you, and whether it’s beatable or a money pit
- Ad accounts: wasted spend, loose match types, bad geography and clicks sent to weak pages
- Reviews and listings: how you look the moment someone compares you side by side
- The offer itself: what you say you sell versus what buyers are actually comparing you on
Sequence beats enthusiasm
Most marketing plans fail at the ordering, not the ideas. Everything on the list might be worth doing eventually; the skill is knowing what returns fastest from where you stand now. A business whose website leaks visitors should fix the page before buying more clicks to pour into it. A brand-new company that needs the phone ringing this quarter usually starts with paid search while slower assets grow underneath. An established shop with years of customers is often sitting on reactivation revenue that costs almost nothing to collect.
Our job is to put your moves in that order, with reasoning you can challenge, and to name what you should ignore for now. Half the value of a good plan is the list of things it tells you not to buy yet.
Positioning gets the same treatment, because sometimes the channels are fine and the message is the leak. If your quote reads like the other three quotes, the cheapest bid wins by default, and no amount of traffic fixes that. Part of the roadmap is sharpening what you say: the offer, the proof behind it, and the reason a buyer comparing five tabs should stop on yours. Spending more to broadcast a weak message is the most expensive mistake on the menu.
Direct your people, or hand us the keys
Consulting and done-for-you solve different problems, and since we sell both, we’ll tell you plainly which fits. Got a capable office manager or an in-house marketer? A consultant setting direction monthly while your people execute might be the most economical good option available to you. Running solo with no bandwidth to spare? Advice you’ve got no time to implement is decoration, and the done-for-you route through our packages makes more sense.
There is also a middle path plenty of clients choose: consulting first, execution later. The audit tells you what needs doing, you watch how we think, and then you decide whether your team or ours carries it out. Nothing about the plan locks you into us, which keeps the advice honest and keeps us earning the engagement every month.
Either way the plan is yours to keep, the engagement is month to month, and the fit question gets settled on a free call booked through the contact page. Owners tell us the twenty minutes of blunt questions were worth it even before any report arrived.

Frequently asked questions
What do I actually walk away with?
A written, prioritized roadmap: what’s broken, what to fix first, what each fix should return, and what to skip. It’s specific enough that any competent vendor could execute it, including one that isn’t us.
You sell the services too. Isn’t the advice biased?
It’s a fair question, so we build the plan to stand without us: named deliverables, no mystery ingredients, month to month if you do hire us. The advice has to survive you taking it elsewhere.
Can you work alongside the agency I already use?
Yes. A common engagement is a second opinion on current vendors: what to keep, what to renegotiate and what to cancel, with evidence behind each verdict.
How long does a consulting engagement run?
The audit and roadmap take a few weeks. After that, some owners keep a monthly advisory check-in and others take the plan and run, and both are fine with us.
Do you only work with the trades?
The trades and local services are where we have worked since 2017, so the pattern recognition runs deepest there. If your business sells locally, the method applies.
